Message From the CEO
It’s all about my people
With the team at the Summer Party
I’ve spent the first 14 years of my career working for good companies within the Global Corporate environment yet witnessing time and again failed attempts to place the working experience above the desire to seek out growth in profit numbers.
When I eventually left the listed environment to join Goodman Masson I knew I wanted to make the creation of an environment that people wanted to be part of and didn’t want to leave my number one priority. I didn’t want this to be a distant agenda item; I wanted it at the centre of our growth agenda.
Joining Goodman Masson gave me the opportunity to execute what I always believed in. I could build an environment that people loved working in, an environment where people could be successful, earn big bonuses and have fun…I could build an environment that ensured financial success.
Month End Presentation
I have a simple theory that involves my people. If you invest your energies in creating a unique employee experience and an environment that allows for freedom and creativity, then careers take shape and people can enjoy what they do. And furthermore they don’t move on and leave you because there is no need.
It’s widely recognised that the obligation of Senior Managers is to grow your top line Gross Margin and bottom line profit contribution and how you do that is about sales, engagement with clients, your ability to attract candidates and by building your brand. Above all else I believe that your people come first. Every day the top of my ‘to do’ list sits the question on how I maintain and improve the employee experience. I want this business to be the best business to work for
Creating ‘The Experience’ of working in a business started with understanding that successful individuals want to develop as professionals at the same time as having fun. It continued with understanding what tools and infrastructure they need and then moves onto thinking about all the little things that make a difference. It builds the environment for success and ‘The Experience’ of working here is integral to how people shape their careers. It’s my commitment to ensuring that everyone has the platform to progress. The environment and experience at Goodman Masson provides the infrastructure for people to build their careers.
‘The Experience’ is a phrase that I have adopted and it lies at the heart of everything we do. We spend too much time in the office to think it’s not important. . World class employee engagement is directly linked to retention, increase in productivity and growth in our top line sales number and bottom line profit contribution. That is exactly what has happened.
The spirit we have created means we love the challenge of taking on our competitors and loving the feeling of winning. When we go head to head with our competitors we’re confident we’ll win. Our reputation and brand is growing…we are starting to dominate.
