Today (20th August) Goodman Masson, the UK’s largest independent financial recruitment company, broke the World Record for the largest number of people dressed as Superman.
To help raise money for charity Help for Heroes, 180 men, women and children gathered at Charterhouse Square in the City to break the World Record wearing the superhero’s renowned blue jump suit, red shoes and red cape. Employees of Goodman Masson together with their friends and family took part in the event before taking to the streets around the City to collect money for Britain’s Armed Forces. A staggering £7133 was raised from the day which will help to provide better facilities for wounded British servicemen and women.
Prior to this event, the largest gathering of Supermen was achieved by 122 participants in an event organised in the City of Metropolis, Illinois, on 15 June 2008.
Guy Hayward, Goodman Masson Chief Executive, commented on the achievement: “Not only have we managed to break a World Record but we have raised substantial funds to help support the fantastic and vital work carried out by Help for Heroes. This is a massive achievement and I would like to thank everyone that took part in helping us to become Guinness World Record breakers.”

Help for Heroes (H4H)
Help for Heroes is a British charity launched in September 2007 to help provide better facilities for wounded British servicemen and women. It was co-founded by Bryn Parry, a former member of The Royal Green Jackets and his wife Emma in 2007. The couple were profoundly moved after a visit to Selly Oak hospital where they met injured servicemen and women and decided they needed to do something to help.
H4H spend every penny possible on supporting capital projects and grants to specialist organisations that aim to provide practical, direct support for our wounded. The initial aim of H4H was to raise funds for the Defence Medical Rehabilitation Centre Headley Court in Headley, Surrey. H4H were able to raise £8M to build the Rehabilitation Complex which was opened by Prince William on 4 June 2010 and houses a gymnasium and full-sized swimming pool.
The current grants that H4H are working on are for a series of regional Recovery Houses. The Recovery Houses are to be built across the UK and will serve as the last stage of rehabilitation before a serviceman, or woman, returns to their unit or transits back into civilian life. The money has been raised to help pay for the first four Personnel Recovery Centres and H4H now intend to raise another £20M to assist Individual Recovery Plans which will assess each person’s potential and ambition, and then help them to achieve their best.
