The Goodman Masson Story

Goodman Masson was started by Paul Goodman and Mark Masson on 11th February 1993. The original location of the office was a windowless, basement space at number 2 Bath Street, London EC1. The partnership between Goodman and Masson proved successful through the start up phase of the business. Goodman led the sales effort while Masson, a Deloitte trained chartered accountant, created and managed the business infrastructure as well as recruited for a handful of companies.

The company moved from its original basement office in 1995 to a floor higher up in the same building. At this time Goodman Masson had eight experienced recruitment consultants, a small cost base, strong revenues and economic conditions were excellent - all key elements for success.

Within a year the business outgrew its newly rented premises and moved into Crusader House on St John Street. The rapid growth created challenges for the business therefore, to help the business overcome its growth challenges, Avi Bradman was hired as a Financial Controller in 1998. A year later Bradman was appointed Financial Director and in 2000 he became Chief Executive. Under Bradman's leadership, the company reached new milestones and established itself as one of the biggest names in financial recruitment. In 2002, Goodman and Bradman purchased Masson's company shares.

The business continued to prosper and in 2007 Goodman and Bradman decided to take the company to the next level. As a result, Guy Hayward was appointed as a board member, shareholder and Chief Executive in August 2008. Hayward's leadership has continued to drive financial performance. Despite testing economic conditions, Hayward's leadership has continued to produce record breaking financials, achieve an attrition rate of 5.3% and the company has won several industry and employee engagement awards under his direction.
