A group of secondary academies in south east London are looking to recruit a Finance Business Partner to join them as soon as possible. The role is perfect for any skilled Accountant, who really enjoys collaborative stakeholder management and interaction with the business as a whole.   • Prepare and lead on monthly and year-end processes for cluster of academies in line with set deadlines, ensuring all forecasting, year-end accruals and prepayments are made in line with financial procedures.
  • To investigate and report on significant variances and make appropriate adjustments if necessary in line with internal procedures.
  • To support the preparation of regular and ad hoc financial statements, variance analysis and to produce a forecast out-turn position on a monthly basis for management review
  • To meet regularly with budget holders to assess financial performance and to provide financial management information, analysis and advice.
  • To ensure all income is accounted for, all expenditure is authorised, assets are safeguarded and liabilities discharged in a timely manner.
  • To prepare three year budget to Academy Principals, Senior Finance Business Partner and to the Federation.
  • To ensure budget holders and senior leaders have an awareness of financial performance requirements, including the need for budgetary control and adherence to scheme of delegation (SOD), and to provide financial awareness training where necessary
  • Support academies to manage the Finance Officers workload and development
  • Prepare and review balance sheet reconciliations including inter-company reconciliations, bank reconciliations etc.
  • Closely monitor budgets so to avoid overspend.
  • Provide business support to the Principals and procurement team when required, including the contractual arrangements for key external providers, such as coach tenders, leisure facilities, etc.
  • Review and check payroll and challenge significant variances appropriately
  • To ensure that appropriate financial accounting systems, procedures and policies are in place at each of the Academies and that the SOD is adhered to.
  • Present management accounts on a termly basis to each Academy's Finance and General Purpose Committee and Governors
  • To work with senior managers and service leads to prepare business cases and bids for new business and/ or service re-design.
  • Ensure that EFA (Education Funding Agency) reporting deadlines are met throughout the year.
  • Ensuring financial procedures are adhered to and reviewed on a regular basis.
  • Any other adhoc work that is necessary for the performance of your role
