Group Financial Controller

12 month Maternity Cover

Our client, a FTSE 250 real estate company, are looking to appoint an interim Group FC to cover a period of maternity leave. The successful candidate must be fully qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) and have relevant post qualification/industry experience. The role requires the candidate to be able to work and communicate effectively at a senior level with executive directors and to think and operate beyond the finance department.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Review of quarterly management accounts for each region and the Group including variance analysis against budget
  • Preparation of narrative commentary for the Group management accounts
  • Twice yearly preparation of the back half of the 'glossy' financial statements at year end and half year
  • Ensure a strong internal control environment is maintained and improved providing updates to the Audit Committee
  • Lead and co-ordinate the annual audit and interim review of the Group
  • Management and development of the regional FCs and Group Accountant ensuring they do the same with their local teams
  • Monitor performance against KPIs particularly the admin cost ratio ensuring that all expenses are in line with policy

Essential Candidate credentials:

  • ACA/ACCA with at least 8 years PQE
  • Previous experience as an auditor preferably within the big 6
  • Excellent knowledge of IFRS/FRS 101 including consolidation with ability to interpret and apply to practical
  • Experience of working for or with Main Market London listed company
  • Great commercial awareness
  • Ability to motivate a team and yourself
