A listed Oil and Gas Business in Mayfair are seeking the addition of a strong technical accountant to join their Head Office team in what is a varied and interesting role with exposure to commercial parts of the business.

The role is suitable for Audit Managers in the Big 6 accountancy firms or a candidate with prior reporting experience in the energy industry.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Role would report to Deputy Group Financial Controller.

Monthly

  • Preparation of month-end workings, reconciliations and journals for the Group's debt instruments, commodity and FX derivatives and share-based payments
  • Coordination and consolidation of management reporting on a monthly basis, including liaising with BU counterparts
  • Responsible for driving the enhancement of monthly reporting tools
  • Analysis, challenge and presentation of results
  • Financial reporting for Trading Entity
  • Balance sheet reconciliations for Group accounts
  • Compliance with, and continual improvement of, Group control environment

Financial reporting

  • Preparation of the annual and half-yearly accounts
  • Maintenance and issuance for completion of the Group reporting packs
  • Responsible updating the Share based payments models
  • Involved in the preparation of Group statutory accounts

Ad hoc

  • Technical IFRS analysis of new arrangements and interpretation of new standards
  • Participate in the preparation of Board and Audit Committee papers
  • Continuous improvements to financial models/workings to further streamline the Group finance function
  • Ad hoc M&A support / Due Diligence work
  • Supporting the GFC with the improvement of the Group control environment (documentation, standardisation, review, testing, independent assurance)
  • Explore systems solutions to streamline financial work streams
  • Participate in cash and business forecasting activities
  • Support with back-office treasury activities

Experience

  • ACA/ACCA qualification
  • Big 6 trained
  • Strong technical accounting and consolidation experience
  • Experience of working with finance systems (preferably SUN)
  • Very strong excel skills
  • Asset reporting / group reporting experience (preferably within Oil and Gas)
