Head of Data Protection

Goodman Masson are working with one of the leading Higher Education Institutions in South-East England who are currently recruiting for a Data Protection Officer to join their team. This role will hold responsibility for the data protection functions of the institution while leading a small team.

Salary: Circa £48,000 per annum plus benefits
Duration: Permanent
Location: Hybrid/South-East England (minimum on-site requirement twice per week)

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

• Managing the institute’s compliance with GDPR, the DPA and other regulations
• Dealing with Freedom of Information Act requests and Environment Information Requests
• Addressing data processing agreements
• Leading and guiding a small team of 1
• Investigating data security breaches

The successful candidate will have:

• Demonstrable experience of a data protection role at a senior level
• Data protection experience in the public sector
• Detailed understanding of the GDPR/DPA legislation and ICO guidance
• Experience handling Freedom of Information requests
