Goodman Masson are partnered with The Bromley By Bow Centre to recruit for their new Head of Finance and Operations.

The Bromley by Bow Centre is a pioneering and vibrant community charity in East London globally renowned for its radical approach to health and wellbeing. It was founded 37 years ago and sits in a beautiful three-acre community park. At its heart is a partnership between a diverse community, a locally-rooted charitable organisation and one of the most progressive primary care health teams in the UK.

As the newly appointed Head of Finance and Operations, you would be responsible for ensuring that the finances and operations of the Centre are managed efficiently and effectively to support the delivery of services in line with their ambitions.

Day to day responsibilities include:

  • As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, play a key leadership role across the organisation, contributing to the strategic development of the Centre
  • Ensure appropriate and effective systems for financial management and reporting is in place
  • Provide financial updates for the Board, the Finance Sub-Committee of the Board, the Chief Executive, SMT and project managers
  • Provide clear and appropriate advice to the Senior Leadership Team on the financial implications of project appraisals and management decisions
  • Develop the centre annual budget and lead year-end account process and annual report
  • Produce all regular financial reporting (including monthly management accounts, cash flow forecasts and balance sheet reconciliations and quarterly forecasts and VAT returns)
  • Work in partnership with the Joint Head of Delivery and Impact to ensure our delivery is managed effectively
  • Work in partnership with the head of Income Generation and Marketing to ensure our pipeline is managed effectively
  • Ensuring internal controls and processes are robust and kept up to speed with industry standards
  • Ensure the Centre has a robust and constantly developing IT set-up that fits the needs of the organisation


  • CCAB qualified or equivalent with some management experience
  • Knowledge of Charity SORP
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
