Role overview

I have an exciting new opportunity for a Java developer to join my client which is one of the "BIG 4" and typically work as part of a wider team. Strong Java knowledge and varied technical experience is key for this role and to ensure that quality is a constant focus. Testing will be high on your agenda and no code shall pass unless it has been fully tested.

Day Rate: £300 - £325 per Day

Location: London

Start date: ASAP

Duration: 6-12 months

The technical skills needed

  • Very good knowledge of Java 8, JavaScript plus related tools and technologies and open-source libraries
  • Thorough understanding of the fundamentals of computing (eg logic, data structures, algorithms, low-level architecture, systems infrastructure, network stack)
  • Experienced with CI/CD ways of working, familiar with build tools and scripting
  • Good working knowledge of version control systems such as Git, Subversion
  • Solid experience working in an Agile delivery team
  • Strong Object Oriented design skills, familiarity with Java8 functional style

Nice to haves ..

  • Modern UI and Back End JavaScript technologies such as Node.js, Angular, es6, Typescript, HTML5 & CSS
  • Good knowledge of SQL databases
  • RESTful API design & implementation
  • Ideally two years commercial Java development experience a minimum
