About the role:

We are currently with a fast growing client who sits in the pharmaceutical space. They are looking for a Project Accountant to join their team. Candidates must have a background in project accountancy and we are open to considering candidates who are both close to and newly qualified.

Location – Hybrid working. Offices are Old Street (Shoreditch) (2-3 days in the office).

Salary – £45,000-55,000). Experience dependent.

Purpose of Job This position is to support the Clinical Operations Group in preparing budgets, corroborating, collating, monitoring, and reporting the costs associated with all project activities against the allocated budget


* Collaborate with clinical operations to gain an understanding of all contracts around all clinical trial projects and to record all commitments

* Maintain the repository of contracts including NDA’s

* Entering requests on NetSuite to setup vendors

* Training clinical personnel on NetSuite and other processing / financial software tools

* Raise POs as required by the Clinical Team in line with the project commitment process

* Review PO for any high discrepancy and contact appropriate sources to ensure accuracy.

* Update Purchase Orders with contract amendments

* Provide weekly status updates on invoices:

o Pending approval

o Rejected

o Without Purchase Orders

* Run expenditure reports & ensure the costs allocated to each project are valid. Ensure nonproject costs are reallocated.

* Compile and analyze financial transactions and other data.

* Prepare accruals and/or prepaid expenses for each clinical trial at each period end

* Prepare reports and financial reports (e.g., contractual requirements, operational reporting), and write clear, concise commentary for management.

* Improve the accuracy of, design, and maintain clinical trial accrual models in MS Excel

* Propose automated solutions to accrual model and accounting for future consideration

* Respond to audit queries

* Support internal and external requests for additional information on project costs

* Act as a coordinator between Meira (Clinical Ops and Finance) and its clinical vendors including account reconciliations and resolve outstanding queries

* Hold monthly monitoring meeting with the clinical team

* Corroboration of invoicing against source data

* Support Finance with preparation of clinical trial budgets

* Review and corroborate third party costs (e.g., patient visits, patient costs, percentage completion of contract).

Experience – what we are looking

* Qualified accountant or working towards an accountancy qualification

* Experience in biotech or pharmaceutical industry is a plus

* Knowledge of clinical drug development process and operational aspects of clinical studies is a plus

* Must be able to apply accounting knowledge to day-to-day operations and assigned projects

* Previous experience and a good understanding of project accounting

* Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills are required

* Experience with NetSuite or similar Finance software

* Ability to identify trends through analysis of various data

* Strong communication, planning and organizational skills, high attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously is required

* Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment, meeting deadlines in an accurate and timely manner; must be detail-oriented Ability to self-motivate and work independently to meet timelines is required

* Proficiency with Microsoft tools (Excel, Outlook, and Word) is required
