I am currently working with a mid size property business based in East London who are seeking an experienced Senior Credit Controller to join their team on a permanent based. Taking the lead in a team of three, this role is an exciting opportunity for a driven collector with some management experience to take the next step in their career.

Summary of role:

Manage the credit control process relating to commercial and residential leases by ensuring that all monies due are recovered in time.

Job requirements

  • Create and maintain effective ways of monitoring rent arrears to ensure best practice
  • Chase late paying tenants by phone, letter and email, within specific time lines; includes extensive telephone credit control work
  • Maintenance of "personal ledger" records for portfolio of customers
  • To instruct appropriately as to when S8 and S21 notices should be served
  • To enforce S8 and S21 notices with the courts on expiry of the relevant notices
  • Preparing files and attending court hearings
  • Manage process through to instructing bailiff to evict where necessary
  • Chase debts of tenants who have vacated
  • Communicate with councils and housing associations to manage receipt of rental payments of flats which are let to them
  • Maintain effective use of diaries and notes so that they properly reflect the latest situation and that planned actions are taken as per dates set
  • To ultimately work towards the reduction of debt to its absolute minimum
  • To manage 2 credit controllers who are responsible for the tenancies assigned to them
  • Provide guidance and advice to staff on related legal matters

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Effective and appropriate communication skills required for dealing with non-paying and often difficult tenants
  • Previous experience in Credit Control in a property management environment
  • Good knowledge of Section 8 and Section 21 and other legal sections relating to residential and commercial tenancies
  • Applications to and attendance at court hearings regarding evictions
  • Good IT skills, particularly Word and Excel proficient
  • Experience on Qube desirable, alternatively, another Property Management system
  • Managerial experience
  • Excellent organisational skills
