Name : Sheryl Wensker
Job Title : Manager
Years at Goodman Masson : 4.5 Years
What does this year’s International Women’s Day theme #EmbraceEquity mean to you?
For me, #EmbraceEquity means not only having gender equality on your radar as a social goal to strive for but also setting a positive example and critically questioning and adapting your own behaviour, thought patterns and decisions accordingly. Awareness of inequalities is the first step – giving it a voice and standing up for it even in unpleasant situations is the next. In our job, we can have a positive impact not only on our own organization but also on our customers and on the working environment of our candidates – we should take advantage of this privilege.
What is your proudest achievement whilst working at Goodman Masson?
Even though it’s been a few years, I’m still pretty proud of winning the Rising Star Award in 2020. And of course, breaking the all-time record in Germany last year.
What is the most important piece of advice you would give to your younger self?
Don’t be afraid to make mistakes! I tend to set pretty high standards for myself. Experience has shown, however, that many probable mistakes have resulted in great learnings that have mostly taken me further instead of setting me back. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Who is your role model?
My biggest role model is my stepmother. She has worked hard all her life to build a career and her own business, and that as a single mother. But at the same time, she never forgot to live her life to the fullest. Today, she looks back on her life with satisfaction and knows that she did everything she wanted to do – and that’s where I want to be someday.
