As part of Black History Month, our Unity network would like to take the opportunity to shine a light on some of the amazing Black artists who have and continue to influence and redefine the music industry.
Throughout history, we’ve been graced with the likes of Jimmy Hendrix, who revolutionised guitar playing forever, and Nina Simone, whose one-of-a-kind artistry included musical styles ranging from jazz to pop, classical, folk, gospel, and blues. Stevie Wonder, who mastered the piano, bass, drums, and harmonica at just 11 years old, and Beyoncé, one of the world’s best-selling recording artists.
Now is a great opportunity to also celebrate those artists who are up and coming or who may be less known but just as inspiring in the music industry!
Our Unity network has listed some brilliant artists below; some you may know, and others may be new to you. If you have time on your commute or when you grab your lunch, take some time to listen to their music. Click on an artist to find their Spotify channel.
